Lake Lavon Dam Cleanup
The dam is a popular fishing spot amongst anglers fishing for catfish, sandbass and crappie. When the gates open, typically in the spring due to rain, anglers storm this spot fishing for sandbass or whitebass. Throughout the year anglers will come out fish for catfish along with crappie.
In July of 2018 a group of members volunteered their time to clean up the area since water levels were down. We walked the banks and ended up with 9 trash bags full of trash and fishing items left behind from anglers. Items ranged from the following:
· Water & Gatorade Bottles
· Beer Bottles & Cans
· Broken Fishing Poles
· Fishing Nets
· Fishing Line
· Styrofoam Bait Containers
· Plastic Minnow Bags
